In New Haven you would be right across the street from a train station which is a short hop over to Union Station and the Metro North trains into Manhattan. You can't get more play than that. Jay
Jay,

I checked both websites for the properties and I was really impressed with 360 State Street which seems more developed than Hartford 21. Am I correct? Also, are all the buildings in downtown New Haven similar to 360 State Street?

I am not sure what you mean by "more developed". Hartford 21 is more complete right now and probably is more occupied. 360 State is still under construction with tenants just moving in recently. 360 State is by far the most upscale apartment building in New Haven. Others that I know of are not quite up to that level. They are smaller, older or lack some of the amenitites. Jay

Jay,

I based this observation on my internet search. I will check out both locations. What have you heard of the people moving into 360 State St or Hartford 21? My bf and I have been living in UES for two years and we are tried of pretenious people who seem to believe that they are too good to say hello to their neighbors. Is 360 or 21 attracting those types of people?

I do not know anyone who lives in either building but I would assume they would have their fair share of snobs. I would think you would find that in any upscale apartment building in this country. Jay

Personally, I would live closer to Waterbury and travel for weekend socialization. It beats dealing with difficult commutes.

Difficult is a relative term. Here in Connecticut people tend to think anything that is more than 20 minutes away is far and getting there would be difficult. I live an hour from my family and they think I live on the other side of the world. Jay

Traveling to downtown New Haven during rush hour from Waterbury is a 60 min commute, 45 min off peak. I make this commute once per week. There is no direct way to New Haven except Route 69 which is only one lane each way. I consider this a difficult commute albeit by CT standards.

Can't speak for 360 state building but that area is a nicer part of new haven. Hartford 21 allows pets and has a nice garage. Some of the restuarants are coming back to Hartford and this year Bushnell park has a skating rink. The XL center continues it's push to keep people entertained. Of course you can catch all local busses to west hartford center from outside hartford 21.

Where will you be working? You'll probably want to pick something close to where you'll need to be and not just something easy to waterbury.

He'll work in Waterbury and I will start looking next year. We care about location. Hopefully, my search won't take forever.
