Hi guys, I'm newly registered here and I thought I could start off by posting some info about a series of free concerts by the Stamford Symphony in Stamford downtown.

The series is colorfully named Pops In The Park and, as you may have guessed, takes place outside, in Columbus Park, right off Main street near the Bell Street Garage, so parking isn't a problem. It is also surrounded by a multitude of restaurants ranging from Italian to a casual American sports restaurant to a fun Japanese restaurant where they put on a show as they cook your meal to just about anything else to satisfy your tastes. The great part is that you can either bring a picnic and sit on the grass or listen from a nearby restaurant!

The free series will start Wednesday, July 18 and continue, with a concert each Wednesday, until August 1st. All of the concerts begin at 6:30 PM.
The first one on July 18th is The Wizard and Sousa and Strauss, Oh My! and is presented by the Stamford Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Eckart Preu.
The second on July 25th is called Hooray For Hollywood and also features the Orchestra with Eckart Preu. This time they play popular show tunes from James Bond, E.T., Psycho, Gladiator, Raiders, and more.
The third and final concert is Caliente Sizzle featuring parts of the Stamford Orchestra and Nestor Torres! These swinging Latin rhythms will take place on August 1st.

Make sure you're there!
