Too funny, DandJ! I'm LOL!

I live in NW Indiana, in a county which gets "lake effect" snow which comes in a narrow band down Lake Michigan. Yesterday and today we got 12" of lake effect snow in my neighborhood, and 3 miles away they only got a dusting. It took me hours to dig out this morning, and I got to work a little before 2 p.m. instead of my usual 7:30 a.m.!

Misery loves company - thought you might like to know you guys aren't the only ones getting pummeled with snow!

As I gain experience, I realize that every place has it's good and bad points. I am here in "The Triangle" and for now, we are enjoying having so many services and conveniences we didn't have in CT.... our cat for example, needed some special dental surgery last week... and there is a vet dental teaching professor at the NC State Vet College that she was able to see. Everything you could possibly need is right here. Spring is nice here, fall is nice, but not as "crisp" as New England. NC is nice especially for families, and yes the COL is easier on the pocketbook. Another advantage.

Having said that though, we fell in love with New England when we moved to CT from the Midwest in '05, and there's no changing that. Each time we go back up for a visit, it only confirms our "Yankee-ness"

Snowstorms like what you're having there now bring fond recent memories of having a pot of beans in the oven and coming in from shoveling and having a bowl of hot soup and watching the loveliness outside the window and the birds at the feeder (if the bears hadn't gotten to it).

Times like this, we're also glad we didn't settle for a rental without a garage!

I bet it's beautiful to look at there... cherish it!

BTW, I really do love winter! Bring on the cold and lots of snow! I hate cleaning off the car and driving in hazardous conditions to my job (29 miles), but otherwise I love, love, LOVE it and would never want to live in a year-round warm climate. Yuck. Snow is so beautiful, and cold air is so refreshing.

I think technically it is the most snow at Bradley Airport, not the state as a whole (though whatever town gets the highest total (I think for this storm someone on this thread noted 29.5" in North Haven) may break the state record). Probably is not the all time record for Sikorsky/Bridgeport. Might be for Danbury though.....but still I think it's very historic. If I go by the OKX website for Bridgeport, they are showing 15.5" as their "official" total and if you go to the "Almanac" section of their website they show a few dates with greater totals (i.e. Feb. 17, 2003).

Why do you say that? Last I heard Shelton received 26".
