Hello!

We are looking for a 3BR/2BA starter house in Middletown/Cromwell in the range of 200-300K. We're looking for neighborhoods that are safe, not too far from groceries/coffee shops/libraries, occupied mostly by young professional families and have a good resale potential. Any neighborhood recommendations? Also, opinions on the Miner Street area in Middletown?

Thanks!

Miner St connects 217 with Country Club Rd and is almost total country. very nice. there's a golf course and a horse farm (don't know what else to call it). the road tends to be a bit windy (wine-dy) and hilly at times but just go slow. it's fairly accessible as well. i live on West Lake Dr and Miner is just at the end of Smith St which i get on from the other end of West Lake. to get to 372 from Miner, you can take 1. Miner directly to 217, 2. Miner to Smith to WL and take that to the other end (217), 3. Miner to Smith to Industrial Park Rd.
to get to 91, the on ramp for exit 20 is right there off of Country Club Rd.

i should add that Miner itself is not a big residential area. there are some nice houses however on Sachem which is off of Miner just before you get to CCR.

I agree with Slipperman that Miner is a nice street. It is a bit windy and narrow for most of its length and part of it is along I-91. Also there is a small park with a waterfall there that is nice. you can see it off I-91 NB. Keep in mind though that this ia one of only a ocuple of through streets in that area and people use it as a cut-through to and from I-91 at Country Club Road. Jay

Only issue I have with Miner street is that it's hills and turns make it a bit of a dangerous street to drive on. A lot of times cars drive really fast down that road even though they can't see what's around the next turn. That makes it dangerous for people to pull out of driveways, and something worth considering if you have new drivers in the family. Also, can you hear the highway from the house you are considering? It would be worth taking a moment of silence to be sure....
