I took the Merritt into NY this morning in the sleet /ice/snow mix. Slippery but not too bad. Other than some minor delays due to spin outs, I had an easy time. Coming home was great. Hit the Merritt at 5:45 and did 60 the whole way and got home in slightly less than an hour (exit 56). No traffic,no slippery surfaces. Tomorrow morning may suck a bit but I'm not too worried.

It was starting to have light snow when I drove to work this morning. Nothing significant, so I wasn't delayed at all.

On the way back, it took me maybe 10-15 minutes longer than normal. (Normal = about 25 min) Freezing drizzle was annoying, starting to ice up the windshield after 20-25 minutes. There was a groove on 395, so could mostly do 40-50 mph ok. People doing 30 were obnoxious, people doing 65 are suicidal.

I say it's better that people drive a comfortable speed than try to keep up and get in over their heads. Just give people room.

I can see where Lowerdeck is coming from. When someone drives way below the speed limit when there are snow flurries, it's annoying. It's even more annoying when they're in the left lane as traffic is passing them on the right.

People need to learn to accurately judge the road conditions. Too slow is obnoxious and can be equally as dangerous as someone going way too fast for conditions.

well roads in bethel were messy but not too crazy, but we DID get snow, 4 inches total, and no sleet/ice today.

not looking forward to tonight/tomorrows icey yickyness but at least we managed to get the driveway clear pretty quickly today.

Left Windsor around 10 pm and it's already sleeting. The news said wasn't supposed to start until 2am. The roads are already very slippery on i-91.

Saw a funny thing on the way home tonight. I was in the middle lane and someone was flying down the highway in the left lane in a pick up truck. For some reason in the area just before the on ramp where i-84 merges with i-91 south there was a HUGE pile of snow in the left lane. This pile was epic. Maybe a previous accident happened in that area, didn't make any sense for it to be there.

The guy in the pick up truck had to slam on the brakes and almost lost it. If he was in the middle lane like the rest of us, he wouldn't have had to do that. Oh well, I doubt he learned anything from that experience.

A whole bunch of tractor trailers are driving down route 1 toward Westport for some reason. Is the highway closed?
