I know this is the Conn board and what not, but I'm curious to know what is the deal with the Tappen Zee Bridge? As I understand it the bridge is going to be replaced. When I don't know. Since it has to be replaced they want to install tracks below the road deck to carry trains.

If that is true, what trains will the deck carry? NJ Path, NY MTA, Amtrak, all three? Would these tracks extend to Brewster, NY \ Danbury, CT ?

It is not lazy. It means stopping what you are working on, picking up your stuff and changing trains along with a large crowd of other people. Hopefully you will find a seat or even a ocmfortable place to stand for the remainder of your trip. No one wants or should be forced to do that for the short trip from NJ to Manhattan. It is just stupid that thousands of people are forced to do this everyday. Jay

Yes , but theres issues with this plan....some call for a commuter rail line form Suffern , to Tarrytown and then south along the Hudson line. A light rail line would then travel along NY 119 corridor form Tarrytown - Elmsford - Fairview - White Plains - Port Chester.... Others call for a full LRT line instead of a commuter line.... For now only NJT and Metro North would use this bridge , Amtrak would not. The Light Rail line would connect the other lines....

Its not stupid...its called life....maybe they shouldn't work in Manhattan.... The same can be said for GCT....thousands have to switch to subways.... I don't see how CT is closer in that sense.....its the same.

From Connecticut you are on one train for 45 to 90 minutes and then you are let off in the heart of midtown. From NJ you are on one train for 30 minutes and then a second for another 30. Plus you are let off on the east side and have to find your way to your office. This is not bad if you work on that side of Manhattan but if you do not it means having to take several different trains to get to work. It is a pain. Jay
