Rowayton is a section of Norwalk and all of the schools there are part of the Norwalk school system. The elementary school and middle school are not "local". They are run by the same Board of Education as other Norwalk schools. Jay

Hi all,

Here's my issue: I live in Stamford, and am trying to determine if commuting to Manhattan is doable for me. ( I know it's doable, just trying to see if it' s for me). I live in North Stamford, not within walking distance to the station. Even thought it's a major hub, the parking there is close to impossible.
I am wondering if there might be another way to do this. Does anyone know if it makes more sense to leave from another station that might have better parking available. (Even one in the Bronx). Any suggestions??

Might want to make a new thread. It doesn't make sense to drive to a Bronx station because you'll be contending with potential traffic and when you look at the Stamford express - not saving much time at all. Especially if the train you pick up isn't an express. You could try grabbing a train in Greenwich if it's quicker for you.

A lot of CT'ers would kill for that commute!

There are multiple morning "through trains" from the Talmadge Hill station. Much closer to N. Stamford.

1 hour plus from Fairfield if you leave anytime after 8. If you leave at 6 you can do it in 30 min.

Heading home is worse. If you leave at 5:30-6 you are looking at 1.5 hours. I used to hit the gym at work, and head home around 7:30. Was hope by 8.

Default Thank you!!

Thanks for everyone's responses! We are buying in Darien, very near the Rowayton border. The commute is great - I've driven it in rush hour a few times - usually between 10 or 15 mins. It's not quite pedestrian but downtown is only 1 1/2 miles and Tokeneke elem is about .5 miles. It's "petite" but doesn't need much work and we paid in the low $700k's.
Really liked New Canaan, but the drive felt quite a bit longer and we really liked the idea of beach accesss.
