Thanks for alerting us to Gulf and Anchor.
Florian in New Haven is supposed to be good too.

Gulf and Anchor has a really fantastic space. They did a great job.

Livability.com has named Stamford to its top 10 foodie cities list. What do all of you think? I would agree if they said New Haven, but Stamford??? Am I missing something? Jay

Default Stamford named a top "foodie" city

#6 Nationally
Stamford, Connecticut | 2015

I'm sure there are plenty of flaws to find, but the criteria is thoughtful:

- critically acclaimed restaurants
- residents who prefer independent restaurants
- access to healthy food and farmers markets
- low obesity rate
- James Beard Award winners
- Population 50,000-250,000

Omaha is number two. The list is suspect, as most of these lists are.

I'd put Norwalk ahead of Stamford in terms of dining in FFC.

New Haven was #1 last year and not on the list at all this year. All seems a bit random.

Finally ate at the Brass City Bistro after driving past it thousands of time. AWESOME. Endless food. Killer French Onion Soup. Delicious penne ala vodka sauce

Does anyone know of a good restaurant in New Haven that isn't super upscale, but it still on the upper side of dining? As a present to my parents I am getting them tickets to a play at the Shubert and a nice dinner.

Any suggestions? I was thinking Urban League Cafe or Zinc.
