That wouldn't work for route 11. It's used mostly by ct plates cutting down to the shore. It's not a major arterial that see's a lot of out of state cars that are passing though the state like I95/I91/I84.

That would be stupid because we'd lose all our federal highway funding if that happened. They've already studied it. It would cost more to have tolls. They can put tolls on route 11 without losing federal highway funding because it's going towards a road that hasn't been finished.

It is true that Connecticut could lose federal funding for the interstates if we were to put tolls on them. But htis is not a problem for state roads like 15, 2or11. Congress is considering allowing tolls on interstates to fund a major reconstruction project, but given that they cannot even agree to fund the transportation system for the next five years, it is unlikely they will ever agree to something like that. Why is anything being invested in Route 11 when 95 from Greenwich to New Haven is a MESS?

Route 11 is almost complete and would cost a fraction of what it would cost to fix 95. And they are spending a fortune adding that new bridge and more lanes around new haven on 95.
I95 in fairfield is a lost cause. Need more mass transit options and the merrit needs to be turned into a real interstate.

They are added a lane in Norwalk and fixing the Route 7 interchange, but won't be done until 2016.

These projects take way too long.

Okay then. How about they have tolls in town line in Stamford and Greenwich or off of the interstate highways. Maybe this state can get away with it lol

if we need more money for highways we should cut back on things that dont benefit the taxpayers for funding rather than raising gas tax or any tax. As noted we already pay more than almost anyplace in the country. The only reason we dont have enough money is we have too many state employees and pay them too much and we have too many people who contribute nothing but recieve alot. If we need 100 million to build a highway for the TAXPAYERS then we only need to cut that amount from welfare or other entitlement programs. The concept of just raising taxes is why we are where we are, overtaxed & under funded. Fund what we need & cut everything else. Seems simple.
