YAY! We made it safely. And can I just tell you - it is absolutely beautiful here. so green, so lush, so quaint. After living in the urban, concrete jungle for 4 years - I am SO ready for this. We've driven a bit in Stamford, through Darien and up to Norwalk. I LOVE Darien. Can I just tell you - I haven't seen an ugly house YET. Greenwich estates are insane!
My one complaint so far - you have crosswalks and signals - but pedestrians ignore them. They would be SO dead in Cali. So I'm trying to make a left turn - and I've got the signal - I go to turn - and there are PEOPLE there. WTF? The signal is clearly RED - that is annoying me....but I suppose it's a small price to pay.
Love Gopher Ice Cream - Toasted Almond! I'm hooked!

Hey you made it!

I agree the Mansions in Greenwich are mind boggling- wait till you see the Gilded age Robber Barron's homes in Newport RI.

Connecticut is small, but there is so much diversity, in the towns, the cities, the rural areas, and the people.

Well I would not walk in a crosswalk if the red hand signal was showing- but in Greenwich its probably just de'rigeur.

Again welcome!

Glad to hear you made it and have had time to roam around. Watch those pedestrians though, by law they have the right of way, even if you have the green light and they the red. Things are bit slower here than CA, so slow down a bit and relax and enjoy.

If you get a chance, check out Southport Village in Fairfield. It is a really quaint 19th village on a small harbor. Stately Greek Revivals overlookingthe water with a yacht club and golf course. It is really nice to check out. Plus New York is a calling. Good luck and keep in touch, Jay

Thanks for the tip on Southport. Interestingly enough - I've heard quite a few people honking at others in traffic - nothing on the scale of LA - but I was surprised nonetheless. We also took a cruise down the Merritt Parkway - my God - it's unreal it's so beautiful. I feel like I'm driving in a movie.

If you catch the Merritt Parkway at the right time, it is like heaven. Catch it at the wrong time, and you better have a good supply of patience.
