When I lived in CT through last year near Hartford it was my observation that very few people cared about the NHL.

I. The way it went in CT, least metro Hartford

-People cared a lot about MLB, slight edge in Hartford to the Sox
-People cared next about the NFL, edge to the Giants
-People in the winter followed UCONN basketball
-Some casual NBA Celtic fans, no Knicks
-Very few NHL fans, most who did were angry Whaler fans, not many Ranger or Bruins fans

...and for CT as a whole
-Again, baseball state, Yanks 60/40 overall over Sox, few Mets fans mostly in SW
-Big football state, Giants edge Pats, few Jets fans mostly in SW
-UCONN huskies
-NHL....mostly Rangers fans, huge edge over B's, plus some angry Whaler fans
-NBA...not that followed, mostly Celtic fans

So I am curious, with the B's winning the cup:

1) Was this a big deal in both metro Hartford and throughout CT?
-Or was this background news, not a big deal for the casual fan?

2) Have there been a lot of B's fans exposing themselves in Hartford/throughout the rest of CT?
Ala Sox post 2004?
Has it been more subdued, even moreso than the Celtics post 2008?

3) Basically
-Are there a lot more B's fans now?
-Are there more B's than Rangers fans?
-Are the B's bigger than Celtics in CT?

I would expect the B's win to be minimally followed in CT, since MLB and NFL usually carry regions, but the NHL is much less a big deal outside the immediate city.
Further, CT had the Whalers, and I would think there would hesistancy to jumping on their rival.

I'd rather take the Acela to Newark and watch the Devils.

Some people were commenting on the Bruins win on my Facebook feed, but most don't care.

CT isn't alone. Hockey has died in Atlanta, twice.

So the B's winning the cup isn't having anywhere close to the effect the Sox WS title or Pats SB or even the C's title had in CT?

Went to Sounds Tigers game last visit. Sad to see such a tiny crowd. Pretty nice arena. Same with Bluefish. Where is the crowd (more like an intimate small gathering)?

Its ashame but it goes with the mind frame of people in this country.

Let me sit there with a Beer and bull**** with the guy next to me and watch someone get 66 million dollars to wait for a ball to come to him. Instead of being entertained non stop. Its the Duh mentality I call it.
