I spoke with an attorney and he said because they didn't give a specific date or amount, he didn't think I had a case I could win.

But, my former employer doesn't even have an HR department, and they don't know much about the law (the VP sent out an email telling employees they would "not be paid" for unauthorized overtime)

So I sent them a strongly worded letter, sprinkled with legal terms and mentioning if they didn't pay up I would contact the CT Division of Labor and/or file a suit for Breach of Contract and Fraudulent Misrepresentation, and they capitulated.

They stated they're calculating the amount, will run it by me to ensure I am in agreement and send me the missing wages. Score one for the good guys!

With overtime hours over that span it wound up being close to $700 before taxes that I'll be getting back, they're cutting me a check next Tuesday.

See, if I hadn't stood up for my rights, I wouldn't have that extra money I earned finding it's way back to my pocket, wah-hoo!

Question: go to the strip club and make it rain? Or bet it all on black and try to double up?
