I went to the Hamden DMV to take my license knowledge test today. When I was up, the guy told me that because I already took my permit knowledge test and have my CS1 8-hour driving certificate (I'm 18 by the way), I don't have to take my license knowledge test. He said that I could skip straight to the road and scheduled me for an appointment at Old Saybrook DMV.
According to the DMV website, people 18+ getting license for the first time must take a knowledge test, but apparently this new law effective tomorrow (July 1) gets rid of that requirement for those who took the permit knowledge test.
The only problem is that he wasn't very clear so I'm not sure whether I have to take the knowledge test after the road or not at all. I looked up the changes to the law but found nothing on there, but it wasn't a complete listing either.
Has anyone ever heard of this? I do have a confirmation in paper form that I'm taking the road test at Old Saybrook in the morning in a few weeks. But what if this guy is wrong?
