I thought it was supposed to happen weeks ago. It's a tough economy, I think the union was being too demanding.

I hope he sticks with what he said he was going to do. The unions had their chance.

I think it's great. The unions should have agreed to the concessions. In the private sector you can't bully your employer into giving you raises every few years and full medical coverage; I'm glad to see Malloy is disallowing the union from bullying taxpayers. Now if we could just get around Malloy directly bullying tax payers to fund more extensive social services...

I think it's awesome. Welcome to reality. I wish AT&T would have done the same thing a couple years back.

That being said though, this tax and spend, liberal, socialist piece of garbage Malloy has to go.

Sadly I know someone that will lose his job in this. Now he will have to look for a new one. I may even know a few others as well. Jay

I also know a handful of teachers who will be losing their jobs. They all voted to take the concessions and they can personally blame the brain dead union members who voted against the concessions for their lost jobs. Sad situation for those who tried to prevent this, but without agreeing on cuts there had to be layoffs.

Sad to see it happening, but the unions did have a chance.

I suspect we're going to be seeing the laws of unintended consequences as the months go by.

The state is laying off many correctional officers, closing a couple of low security prisons and moving those inmates in with more hardened inmates in tougher prisons. Can't be good in the long run. Rotten people tend to adversely influence the the young and immature and not for the better.

And if the planned layoffs of up to 30% of the DOT goes through we're all going to be cursing everyone in sight this winter as the highways don't get cleared. Ugh !

unfortunatly guys I kind of respect what the union stands for in the respect that they try to get the best all around for their workers, I wish it didn't come to this and the union had made proper concessions. In the past ive had family members whove been union members and it worked well for them being in one.
