I'd look into Utah, it's cheap, beautiful mountains, and airport in SLC. My second choice would be around Grand Lake in Colorado.
Have you ever been to Utah?

I will never come back there unless my ex visit me

I've probably spent a month there total. If you like mountains and low cost of living in the boonies, it can be a great place to live.

It's one of the few places the OP can get a halfway decent place for their budget with beautiful mountains and countryside, and still be within driving distance to a major airport. Colorado is too expensive and other mountainous states are too remote.
