Where do you get on the train?
I take the 6:43 in from Fairfield, and the 6:29 (M8) home from GCT.

During the 80s and 90s most of the LIRR and NJT were upgraded or replaced and expanding....MNRR only did that to the NY lines. There currently replacing the Wires , stations and and tracks in NY....CT just started on the wires. The Tracks have mostly been done and the signals are next.
This is completely wrong. The New Haven line has one of the best records for a commuter rail in the country. The line is also NOT in bad shape. It was hit hard by a major hurricane which avoided much of New York and New Jersey. The line is closer to the coast than others so of course it is in worst shape after the storm. You really need to stop posting this misinformation. Jay

The line is one of the worst in the region , its over capacity , in very bad shape and the trains are the oldest and worst in the region.....the rate of replacement in CT is extremely slow compared to NY. Its taken CT 20 years to overhaul the New Haven line and there only 60% done with doing it. The New Haven line Bridges are in such bad shape that theres a 15-20mph speed limit on a few of them. The Harlem and Hudson lines have a better record then the New Haven line....i have to find the link to the NYT article about that. The line being close to the Coast does not excuse the bad shape its in , the North Jersey Coast line and a Few MBTA lines go near the Coast there in way better shape then the NHL. As for the storm damage , it was mostly trees , the other Metro North lines didn't fair so well.

Huh? If anything, NY and NJ got hit just as bad, or even harder. Things were a mess in Jersey when I drove through on Tuesday.

How much dose it cost to take the Metro-North NH line to Grand Central?

They do need huge upgrades. It's a sorely outdated system. The fact that the quickest option to go 60 miles takes 80 minutes is ridiculous to me.

They need more cars so they can have true direct express trains to GCT in every major stop in CT.
