I guess you get the idea. All figures are from CIA World Factbook.

Our poor live decent and comfortable lives compared to the poor in any of those places, and you can thank economic growth and trickle down economics for that!
LMAO. These are all corrupt third world hell holes and they all have a huge spread between the rich and the poor. THe poor in most of europe do much better than in the u.s. 50 million americans with no health insurance. Enough said.

We used to laugh at those countries with such a huge spread between the rich and the poor. America didn't used to be like this. It's on it's way to becoming a third world country if something isn't done

Yea, maybe we can model how Eastern European countries handled the "problem".

This is still the United States of America. Even with it's warts, if you don't like your situation, you are free to change it.

This is what your attitude reminds me of:

America's been "like this" (actually even worse) since the late 1800's.

JViello"Yea, maybe we can model how Eastern European countries handled the "problem."

Or perhaps other European nations. Germans will not buy non-German goods if they produce the products themselves. Hence, they are not simply a depot for China, as we are in many regions which have "given up" for profit, non-gov't related mfg.

Again, its about recognizing true costs. If those mfg jobs exist, as they do in NJ,PA,MA, the less educated would have more jobs open to them, which would relieve your tax burden. They do not simply "go away" if those jobs cease to exist; you than pay for them, via taxes. Mfg does not preclude any state from also seeking medical, high tech, film production, financial services, or anything else. Its not an either/or game.

Here is a dirty little secret neither party wants you to know: An American pays more in tax for health care than the citizens of UHC nations such as Sweden, Japan, and the UK!
Neither party is particularily interested in people realizing how their tax stewardship compare to other countries.

The red bars are how much tax money goes to health care, the pink one how much people afterwards have to spend on insurance/out of pocket. Note how Americans pay more tax for health care, have to get insurance, and them end up with uninsured, medical bankrupcies, competitive disadvantages, etc.

That would be Scandinavia then. For a very long time the USA was the place to go if you wanted to make something of yourself and your own hard work. And since it'd been true for so long, it became assumed that it would continue to be so. Today the US and the UK are among the lowest social mobility in the First World, and Scandinavia the highest.

Sorry but living Norway cost more than living in the US.

Culture Shock Norway : Cost of Living | Stavanger Expats

It has been talked about time and time again and it is not too hard to do a simple Google search to find that the cost of living in Norway far exceeds the cost of living in America. So when I wrote EVERYTHING costs more, I meant it as an aggregate.

Once again, immigration to America far exceeds people immigrating to Norway on an overall basis.

Personally, with all the problems going on over in Europe right now, I would think that one would not view this as a utopia but rather as a model to avoid.

Eastern europe(extremely poor now capotalist russian/slavic countries) are completely different than western Europe(France/england/scandanavia)

Ok. I'll admit I haven't lived in Norway. You also have to remember that most things are subsidized/taken care of by the government over there. There talking about health care costs...hello....it's free! lmao It's super expensive for a non citizen tourist though of course.

"For general healthcare, medical and medical insurance such as general practitioner consultation rates, hospital private ward daily rate, non-prescription medicine, and private medical insurance / medical aid contributions is relatively more expensive compared to other cities with a rank of 52 out of 282."

IT'S FREE GOVERNMENT SUBSIDIZED GOVERNEMENT RUN HEALTHCARE!!!! Talk about manipulation in an article.

But we all know how the average french person's quality of life is compared to the "average" and "below average" income person in the U.S. It's a no brainer. 32 hour work week(Sarcosky is trying to change all that), full government health/retirement. They have 2 hour lunches ect. mandatory vacation that they TAKE ect. It's all about work, work, and work and money money over here. Different culture. It's even worse though in the Asian countries like Japan, China, and India. They live to work over there.

"Image" has a lot more to do with immigration than reality....you know "anything is possible" in nyc....goto hollywood and become a movie star!! That emotion drives immigration.

And that spread is measured via the Gini coefficient, which is clearly less than southwestern Connecticut's, but somehow their poor are worst off than ours!

You can't block the sun with your thumb. Trickle down and economic growth has benefited all Americans.

BTW, Mexico has become a middle class majority country (around 51% of households) and most other Latin American countries have seen a tremendous rise of their respective middle classes too. Hell holes is not what I would call them. Guess why those countries have progressed? (Hint: economic growth and trickle down)
