Roads are a mess at mid morning. I went to take the Merrit....STANDSTILL visible from Ramp.. turned around headed down Route 7 to take 95... CRAWLING... Cant even make a living getting from point A to Point B.

This is Route 7... People in left lane doing 60. people in middle lane doing 50. People in right lane stopped ahead. guess what happens when someone in the middle lane realizes they have no room to get in.

You know what I do in that picture because sometimes I come that way after stopping at 7-11 If I see it like that I get off the exit for SoNo then at the light make the left and then get on the highway.. I'm guessing when the traffic is like that I'm ahead some 50-70 cars?

That area is bad.. I think that's part of the section they want to widen? It's bad too because if you are coming from rt.7 it goes from like 65 to like 10 in a blink of an eye.

Traffic has been unusually high for July lately, I've noticed.

The first 4 months of this year were pretty amazing. My delay to Westport now is at the most 5-10 minutes, but if I was driving to Norwalk or Stamford like many do - the pain would be felt even more.

What happened?

I'm noticing way more fender benders and minor-ish accidents wreaking havoc on the Merritt, and more DOT vehicles causing a ruckus than normal.

Are drivers getting worse?

Considering I got rear ended twice in 7 months while dead stopped, I'd say that's a fair statement.

Friday was a joke traffic wise. Left Trumbull at 9:39, didn't get to Greenwich until 11:10. Always sucks when your stuck in traffic in the no exit zone, because then your really SOL because there's no where to go.

Maybe so. However, I am lucky that I no longer have to drive over it every afternoon and night. I avoid going places that take me over that bridge. I feel sorry for people who do have to do it.

Greenwich Exit 32 to New Canaan Exit 37 - 11 Miles - 40 Minutes . No rain... Not rush hour. Standstill and crawling at 2 mph at times.
