DW was on 95 and it took her 2.5 hours to get to Stamford (her one day not working from home). She tells me how many close calls there are on 95 everytime she drives.

But no, drivers in southern CT aren't selfish, mean or aggressive. It's the same everywhere, right?

In this economy, I view this awful traffic as a blessing in disguise....just trying to be optimistic I guess.

Driving should be a privelege, not a right.

Mandatory road tests on live roads every 10 yrs until 50, every 5 yrs until 70, and every 2 yrs after.

Even better would be a peer review system. You find someone driving like an @#$^-hole, call 711 or whatever and report the license plate. A set # of reports from different callers, and blam - mandatory driver's re-education or loss of license. And add mandatory vision tests for anyone with corrective lenses or over 50.

Thankfully I'm the guy zooming along in the opposite direction of all that traffic. I couldn't imagine sitting in that much traffic every day - I would go insane.

It IS a privilege. It's just not one that's difficult enough to attain. When you consider what a modern car is capable of...It should be DAMN NEAR impossible to get a driver's license. But you just know what the liberals and civil lib unions would have to say about that.

Unfortunately, it wouldn't do anything to help. Everybody would be on their best behavior with an examiner.

The only thing that i could think of would be for them to develop some type of device placed alongside the highways that could make cell conversations very difficult(but not totally impossible). Something that emits a signal like every other second that causes interference with(but doesn't terminate) your call.
