Crime. These are the poorer parts of the city and where there are more problems than other parts of the city. Jay

Yes, what Jay said is absolutely right. But, the south end is gentrifying and there is new construction all around with the Harbor Point development. I'd say in 5 more years it will be an entirely different landscape and a larger changed demographic--crime will also significantly drop. As for the west end, there are plans to replace a couple of really bad housing projects with newer developments, although I suspect this area will remain the highest crime area in the city for some time.

Strawberry Hill Ave is the best. Well, I live in this area presently and I'll say it's a nice and peaceful place.

I'm looking to escape from here though, coz, one, the traffic is appalling and unbearable, I have lost count of the number of times I punched my steering wheel like Orlando Bloom in the movie "Elizabethtown".... "Did I miss 60B? Did <bang> I <bang> miss <bang> 60B <bang>?" Stamford signal controllers are the worst. The worst. I actually know the number of windows in every building in Main Street financial center Coz that's how much time me and my car have spent there

And, two, there's too many Indians and it's starting to freak me out with visions of Delhi

Oh wait, I'm Indian

I'll definitely miss two things though - Bull's head diner pancakes and my next door neighbour

The best neighborhoods in Stamford are North Stamford, Shippan, Glenbrook and Springdale. I wouldnt consider buying in any of the "up and coming" neighborhoods as I doubt you'll see much gain on your investment any time soon. If you want to live downtown, consider renting instead.
