Hello CT folks we are back from our trip to see Gramma in Hartford. We had an awesome time; we sampled the local cuisine like pizza and hot oven grinders. We drove to Kent Falls, Gillette's Castle, Old Saybrook and Mystic Seaport.
I was impressed by the overall wealth of the area; I saw even more new BMW's than in Sacramento and the unemployment rate was down below 9%.
The foliage was not really colorful but the back roads were terrific with colonial homes hugging the highway.
Thanks for all the trip suggestions everyone!

And you didn't even visit the uber-wealthy Gold Coast of Fairfield County!

Don't be fooled by the BMWs. Connecticut has gotten way pretentious over the years, with just out of college 30-40kers still living with their parents inundated with a $500 monthly car payment. It's no longer the land of frugality and steady habits.

That's long gone. Both in CT and the rest of the country for the most part. But honestly I see more adults in the Euro rides than kids these days.

For the most part, yeah, but in flyover country, anyone with a "Bimmer" is considered the town snob.

Here in the New Haven area, there are PLENTY of 20-29 year olds driving expensive cars. Then you see them pull into Holiday Inn and hop out with a nametag.

Nope, going to the original Frank Pepe or Sally's is like a religious experience.
