I'm visiting Shelton and Monroe over the weekend with the hopes I can find a comparable balance between the two neighborhoods - Woodbury vs. Shelton or Monroe.

Thanks for the continuious input folks.
That's about right. Oxford has been slightly Fairfield County-ized, and Southbury has been largely adopted by the Danbury area. They have both gotten busy with lots of families moving in. If you're looking for a true, sleepy New England town with a slower pace, you definitely don't want to go south of Woodbury.

Shelton and Monroe are very nice, but again, you won't find them to be any more sleepy than you found Oxford or Southbury. Shelton has a pretty fast-paced lifestyle IMO. Monroe too.

If faster-paced is what you're looking for, then Monroe, Shelton, and Trumbull should be considered.

Do you really know New Milford? I know people that live there and they are not hicks or trailer trash. In fact they are successful professionals (lawyer, department manager) with a beautiful home and a hardworking successful business family, also with a couple of very nice homes. Jay

Going on the weekend? We're also mapping out parts of Rhode Island - Tiverton, Pawtauket! Warwick, Swansea areas. Not sure if any comparisons qualify with CT (Fairfield county - mostly lower).

Wow, kinda all over the place? Have you considered the less expensive parts of the CT shoreline? From Stratford to Stonington. There are some gorgeous spots.

Not exactly a singing endorsement for the New Milford public school English program, huh?
