Eventually I might decide to move to New Haven in the future...

Hopefully they'll get a mayor who understand the city needs to pay for its own public schools rather than the state carrying most of the costs. Yes, I had to go there.

Lots going on these days.

New restaurants and bars:
Ordinary
Roia (gorgeous restored space)
Briq
Yolande's Bistro and Creperie
Palmeira
Panera Bread
Cilantro
Tomatillo
Chipotle
gogreenly
Maison Mathis
Orangeside on Temple

Au Bon Pain is moving, as well as Origins. That building is being renovated for a mystery high profile tenant.

Projects in planning or under way:

City Green-Lights 205 Church St. Makeover | New Haven Independent
$50M Building OK'd For College & George | New Haven Independent
This was recently approved: 53,000 Square-Foot Chapel West Plan Pitched | New Haven Independent
Star Supply redevelopment is close to approval
100 College Street has begun construction
The new Yale residential colleges are under construction
The new Yale School of Management building is almost complete

A lot going on, and some much needed housing.

After these projects, I'm thinking Church Street South and the Coliseum development will be next.

And of course this one--bodes well for the future

Default Jordan's Furniture to open at old New Haven Register Location

Jordan?s Furniture to open first Connecticut location at New Haven Register site- The New Haven Register - Serving New Haven, Connecticut

They seem like pretty crazy, huge furniture stores. Anyone been to one?

Wonder how this will affect the furniture store businesses in Orange.

Wow, that's great news for Long Wharf. Their furniture, from my experience, is higher quality than a Bob's and also a little more expensive. Their stores are more of a "destination", one has an Imax, one is New Orleans themed...the real deals are in their Bargain Room or whatever it's called. It's not beat up floor model stuff but overstock.

Well played, Jordan's, on the highly visible from I-95 location.

This is good news for New Haven. The one/two punch of Jordan's and IKEA should really draw the crowds now.

That said, since we have a New Haven development thread already going, I am going to merge this thread into that one. JayCT, Moderator

In addition to the current New Haven development projects listed above, there are a few smaller ones:
-the Boathouse at Canal Dock will be new construction on Long Wharf and include boat rentals
-the Farmington Canal Trail park will be completed through downtown below street grade and then at street grade from Orange St to Long Wharf
-the Science Park housing development is under way.
-the lower Chapel St apartment complex -betw Orange and Church- is that still a go? not sure
-relocating downtown's Farmers Market onto the New Haven Green /Temple Street; opened.
-another restaurant to the above list is in Westville's recently constructed apartment corner at Whalley/West Rock, a family restaurant opened, Stone Hearth.

You don't mean 360 State? Which is done.

Or do you mean the high rise that was proposed about a half block below it on State Street? I don't think that's gone anywhere yet.
