No progress on call with officials and developer, and many think it’s dead.

City thinking of enacting blight fees (I 100% think they should) and sounds like some are getting wary of all the breaks and grants the developer has gotten with zero progress. And sounds like they had the gall to ask for more grants.

If I were the city, I would put maximum pressure on them. It’s a boondoggle.

If I was a West Haven resident, I’d be livid that more pressure wasn’t put on them years ago.

Blight fees are considered classist and racist. Wont' happen, especially in CT's wokest city. They'll be all over that Day One. You know that, right

West Haven is pretty purple, honestly.

This is about West Haven. Assuming you were thinking about New Haven - which is doing its job actually building housing, including a ton of market rate housing in the "wokest" city.

In New Haven you can't say "blight" and "fees" together in a sentence. That's a trigger. Watchdogs and the Yale Wokerati Society would be all over that in a minute. Someones bound to post something. Guaranteed. You know this too. Maybe Hartford too, anywhere else in CT it's fine.

They are fine with blight if it targets slumlords or developers, like in this case. Don’t think it’s a woke agenda to protect them.

New Haven ranks in the Top 20 nationally for Life Sciences workforce base, according to the CBRE’s Life Sciences Talent Report. That’s great for the city and state. Jay

A Branford developer is proposing to replace an abandoned and blighted commercial property at the corner of Whalley Avenue and Fitch Street in Westville with a 245 unit apartment complex. This will do wonders for the neighborhood. Jay

And same NHI has same day write-ups showing about 1000 units in planning/under construction in Dixwell/Science Park/Newhallville, as well as another 1000 in Westville including the one you posted on. At this rate New Haven’s population will hit 150,000 by the next census.
