Yeah, that was odd. It's going to be a big project. They have to go underground for parking.

All great for New Haven, but it is now extremely difficult for people to get from 95 to Route 34 since they are eliminating the freeway portion of the connector.

Not much of it, the freeway part will still be intact for the most part. That above plan is past the current freeway area where it's always been a 4 line side street area. I think the benefits outweigh the negatives in this case.

This is the vision 10 years down the line:

A much more "complete" city from train station to downtown.

Yeah, I know. I'm talking about the whole plan though - instead of streamlining the process of getting from 95 to 34, they just made it more difficult. I drove that way last week (from Branford to 34 west) and it was a mess.

it's definitely rough right now. The roads are in terrible shape too. They seem to have neglected them since they're being replaced. At least they will be wider.

I wasn't talking about the condition of the roads - although they are insanely terrible. I'm talking about how slow it is getting from 95 to Ella Grasso, when the majority of the traffic getting off Exit 2 from the connector is headed. Stop, go, stop, go, stop, go. Again, instead of streamlining the process for the majority of drivers, they (I'm assuming Yale has a huge part of it) decided to cut the expressway in half and add in stop lights - I believe there will be two extra stop lights than there were before. It makes no sense when it comes to traffic flow in the greater area...but that's how CT has always worked - New Haven only cares about New Haven, and not the metro area. Same with the other towns.
