Interesting article on new development spreading from downtown into other neighborhoods. This certainly has happened long ago in neighborhoods like Wooster Square, East Rock, the Medical District and Westville. Jay

The city planning commission has approved plans to convert the old Connecticut Tennis Center to an outdoor music venue. It will be run by the non profit that runs the College Street Music Hall and will be called the Westville Music Bowl. It should be a great addition to the city but I am not sure how it will fare with competition from the new venue being built in Bridgeport. Jay

I think the competition will be good. Also, Manic Presents who is partnered with them has a great track record of booking high quality acts. With this addition New Haven will certainly be the live music capital of the state.

This is very disappointing. First College Street pulls out of their winning proposal for the space and now the second runner up, Long Wharf Theater backs out due to excessive costs. Hopefully something can be done with it. Jay

No, has nothing to do with the outdoor venue that College Street group is doing. This was a donwtown club space.

Yale New Haven Medical Center and Hartford Healthcare have announced the construction of a $72 million cancer treatment center in Wallingford. A much needed treatment center. Jay

I am assuming that College Street group dropped out of the downtown venue to concentrate on the outdoor one. It is certainly more ambitious and will serve a larger audience. Jay
