Of course people are moving. Every year- especially in the fall- thousands of people move to New Haven just for as Yale students or YNHH residents. Add in all the other professionals who move to the city and there is a huge demand for housing. There may be some decline this fall but Yale students and hospital residents will still be moving to the city Covid or no Covid.

New Haven has one of the tightest rental markets in the country. That is why so many developers have been investing there. Jay

I went to IKEA yesterday and I was pleased to see that renovation work is starting on the long vacant Pirelli Tire Building.

The developer who bought the building plans to convert it into a boutique hotel and conference center.

New Haven’s Board of Alders has approved the plan to construct the 10 story $100 million bioscience tower at 101 College Street in Downtown Crossing. Great news. Jay

Also noticed work to prep for the Coliseum site redevelopment is under way.

That developer (Spinnaker) has a good track record, so hopefully that finally comes to fruition. LWLP out of Montreal really abused their deal with the city and dragged it out.

I’m not sure what is going on there but nothing has been approved yet for the site. Spinnaker was just approved a the developer of the site last year and laid out a timeline for development which shows construction starting next year. Jay

The Coliseum site work is the start of Infrastructure-only work as prep for the hopeful development, not actually part of it.

Yes, it's infrastructure work that's been held up for years that is required for the project to start. Realignment of streets and utility work.

American will cancel it's daily flight to Philly and instead add a second daily flight to Charlotte from Tweed which is a bigger hub for domestic flights.
