On another note, UConn, one of our best state schools, accepts a HUGE amount of out-of-staters. I do not see this going on in other states. UNC for example must accept at least 85-90% of the in-state applicants. Any thoughts?
Largely because we sped most of our money catering to liberal progressive programs and our infrastructure takes a back seat.

NHhas a much more severe freeze/thaw cycle than CT, yet by & large their roads are better with a much lower tax burden. The simple fact is its a priority thing, in CT we dont have much left to take care of our infrastructure after catering to the special interests, feeding/houseing the lazy and paying our very well paid municipal & state employees. Our roads are a direct reflection of the importance we place upon them.

IMO, it's because there's no percentage in fixing potholes quickly and efficiently. The town and State public works departments are unionized, and it pays to stretch out the work as long as possible and make sure it has to be redone on a regular basis.

U. Conn didn't used to have many applicants - let alone attendees - from out of state. I'm thinking the PR and marketing has been stepped up to lure out of state attendees because they are more lucrative. Gotta have some out-of-state tuition cash coming in to offset the lower tuition for illegal aliens.
