Hello everyone, i am new to citydata ad i would like to know bout our soon to be, next location, shelton. I will be living with my wife and two young children. We already found a house that is about to be sold to us. But one of our main priorities is for our childrens city, but we've asked around and discovered that we will not be living in the nicest area (Howe Ave.) Are we overthinking it or are we fine. Thanks

*our budget is 220k

Shelton has extremely low crime. Don't worry. "Not the best area" just means a little dumpy in appearance and not as desirable as other parts. It doesn't mean dangerous.

I agree Howe Avenue is not unsafe, just a little run down in sections. Don't worry about it. If you and your wife like it, that is all that matters. Good luck, Jay

I lived near Howe Ave and would never live there again. It is dumpy and a little trashy - there are quite a few scumbags who live around there. There IS crime but it mostly consists of drug activity. Never, or rarely rather, property or violent crime.

If you're okay with living around some scummy people, you'll be fine. I don't mean to sound snobby or pessimistic, but it is what it is.
