My husband has a possibility to take a job in New Canaan but we have no idea where to start looking or what areas are "good" neighborhoods. We would ideally want to spend <$2000 a month for a 3-4 bedroom in an area with a good school. He would be willing to commute about an hour each way.

Please help!

New Canaan is in the heart of one of the most expensive parts of the country. You will have to travel pretty far to find a 3 or 4 bedroom home in your price range. I am not sure if you can find a home for under $2,000 but may be a condo in maybe Milford, Shelton or Stratford. Sorry but it is pretty expensive in that area. Jay

Is the job accessible from the train station in New Canaan?

Like Jay said, that area is extremely expensive.

It wouldn't be a great car commute from the Shelton/Stratford/Milford area, but lots of people do it. You may also want to consider Danbury/Bethel. It's a long backroad commute, but there's less traffic. That said, I'd say the Shelton/Stratford/Milford area has more going on. You'll have to decide whether you prefer a bit more bustling and coastal setting, or quieter and inland.

Im curious to know his job because that town doesnt seem to have many offices or commercial shops.

For that budget I think the max you can stretch is in Redding but Bethel is alot more realistic.

They have plenty of offices. Most are on the 2nd story of buildings in the center of town.
