November single storm records were broken for the area of Bridgeport, CT, Newark, NJ, and JFK. That means that snowstorm broke the record for most snow in 1 storm for the month of November. WOW.

Central Parks November snowfall average is .40". They got 4.7" with this storm.

They are tied for 6th snowiest November. Only six times since 1868 (144 years) has there been more than 4.6” of snow for the entire month of November in Central Park. 2012 has 4.7” already.

Central Park has not had more than 3" of snow before November 23rd in the last 144 years until now. Beat it by two weeks!

Bridgeport's November snowfall average is .70”. They have 8.3” already with one storm.

In other words, they have 1100% more already.
The second highest November total on record and there's three weeks left.

Bridgeport has not had more than 4" of snow before November 23rd since records began in 1948. Beat it by two weeks.

BDL(Windsor Locks,CT) normal November snowfall is 1.9". They received 2.5" with this one storm.

"Daily snowfall records were set for three of our four climate sites. Boston was the only site not to set a snowfall record. More information can be found on the graphic"

Snow completely gone..I don't think I've ever seen 9 inches of snow disappear that fast.

Good to see...I want winter in winter. Though this warmup is short lived...temps down below 50 by mid week. Remember we should be in the 50-55 range depending on where you live in the state. Makes the storm we just had all the more bizarre.

I don't see the pattern delivering much sustained cold air that is winterlike anytime soon with few exceptions. A snow event looks to be in the cards for the Northern Plains, but it really doesn't stay cold there a few days later. the flow looks zonal even though colder air is building in many areas of Canada. Northern New England looks to have above average temperatures as well as the northern Great Lakes.

Yup, the flow is speeding up again, in and out. I wonder if this is another reload or a new pattern. Zonal is frustrating because you cant get used to one kind of weather. Have you seen the southeast??? Well below normal. So its funny how New England is above normal and southeast is below. That is one massive blocking pattern which has now weakened, hence the warmer east again.

This area should hit low 60s Monday. But then 30s again at night after Tuesday. In and Out. Key thing to focus on is... which is staying put a bit longer... the warmth, or the cold..

Thanksgiving.... Something brewing.

Wow, who cleans up all that sand?

Most of our snow is gone now, hopefully by tomorrow the rest will melt completely.

I thought you might be wrong about Newark because there was a big snowstorm on Thanksgiving Day in 1938 (Bridgeport's records date back to 1948, Newark's to 1929), but you were right as I found a weird quirk about that storm.

Central Park had 8.8" of snow, but Newark "only" got 3" out of that storm (which makes it less than not only their total for our recent storm, but for the other famous November snowfall whose "record for the month of November" it broke, another Thanksgiving Day snowstorm in 1989 (I remember that one)).

Hartford would've been hard pressed to get their "all time November snow" out of this because in 1971 (on Thanksgiving Day again!) there was another snowstorm, but on the immediate coast it was rain with non-sticking wet snow. Hartford got 8" out of that one (Albany and Poughkeepsie got 2 feet, as did western Mass and parts of VT and NH)

I'm sure all snow will melt completely by Sun night,

As far as the beach sand in the streets...the city has been trying to clean it up since Hurricane Sandy...but there is pile and piles of it.

If you really want to see beach sand in the streets...check out this pic I took today (the date on my cam is messed up) on Atlantic Avenue in Westerly, the sand left by hurricane Sandy is 3 feet deep in the streets!:
