December 10, 2012 Storm Update:

The reliable model (EURO) has shown this solution twice in a row now..

This would be a snowstorm in the NorthEast around the December 10th timeframe. Lets see if it continues to show it. As far as what the latest particular runs shows.. Widespread 6-9" of snow from Maryland to NH including all of CT except the immediate coast. Locallized 10-12" amounts would be possible with this senario.

But again... lets not look at totals yet... lets see if the storm continues to be shown. It basically phases the Jets. GFS does not (what else is new?)

Winter Advisories for Hartford, Windham, and Tolland to 3am. Light stuff less than an inch of snow and ice.

Warmest day of the week should be Tuesday. Will feel like Spring out there. Front moves through Wednesday dropping us back down afterwards.

As promised …it looks like the flow has turned toward the southwest…..so here comes the warm temps.

We should see highs today near 50 – 55 F (lows above freezing tonight), while the middle Atlantic (Washigton DC/Balt) climbs into the 60's....and 80's in Florida:

It does look like 60s tomorrow and Tuesday even up into Connecticut.....

On a totally different side note, I was watching a 30 min special about "extreme weather" yesterday on Channel 7 NYC and they noted in it that one issue in big storms around here is "Connecticut has the highest 'tree density' of any part of the US". I (and my wife who watched with me) never knew that......

Yes, we are becoming known nationally as the "green state".

Yes, I think we make 60 F in many spots in the tri-State area in the coming days. Also, there was some good explanations about the warming pattern that should be around for the next few weeks by Brett Anderson. He now thinks it could stay mild for the whole month of December. Who knows if this will turn out like this in the end, however:

Well, it is supposed to cool off a lot after Wednesday though.

I don't think we'll have a 2nd month in a row of below-normal averages (if nothing else, this coming week may be warm enough that it would take a major "cold spell" to do it), but what I think will happen is a mix of cold and warm spells that average out to a bit above normal, kind of like the first half of this week vs. the 2nd half.
