Watching Euro2012 Soccer Italy vs Spain Final... I didnt understand why the picture was going in and out.. Until the announcer mentioned storms in the NorthEast.

ESPN must be dealing with some intense storms in CT!! Wow!

Long term forecasts seem to be showing alot of rain in the middle of the month. Accuweather (not reliable long-range i know) has shown rain for many straight days and cool weather. The thing of note is they have not backed off of it for days now. Some of the models definitely indicate a very wet pattern also. Will it materialize?

On vacation in northeast PA this week (no storms yesterday, surprisingly perfect weather!) so haven't been on the Internet much.

Central Park actually broke their streak and ended up 0.4 below normal. No one else did though (Bridgeport finished a full degree above normal)

June Stats:

BDL(Windsor Locks) was -.30 below normal for the average June temp.
15 days High Temperatures were in the 70s.
3 days were in the 60s.
Only 5 days in the 90s.
19 Days where the low temps were in the 50s.
2 Days in the 40s

BDR(Bridgeport) was 1.0 above normal for the average June temp.
Thats pretty shocking considering they had 14 days where the High temps were below normal and 5 of those days were well below normal (more than 8 degrees below normal)
They had 8 days of above normal Highs(5 being well above).
Put it this way.. BDR's average temps was below normal for the month until the 26th. Last 4 days put them over the top.
15 days High temperatures were in the 70s.
5 Days in the 60s.
Only 4 days in the 90s

Danbury, CT had 5 days where the low temp went into the 40s.

We in southern CT/Long Island/NJ seem to have had a fairly normal June this year. I’ve often said that NWS stations like Danbury (high elevation) and Windsor Locks (near the MA state line) are the true crossroads between the New England climate to the north and the Tri-State climate to the south.

While stations like BDL and Danbury were below normal, many NWS stations in the Tri-State area were still ABOVE Normal. NWS Bridgeport was one full degree above normal (69.4 F)…NWS Islip and JFK were 0.6 F above normal…NWS LaG was 0.4 F above normal…Trenton, NJ was 0.2 F above normal…etc. None of these stations had any lows below the lower 50’s …and each of these stations saw highs into the 90’s (even though they are coastal stations).

Bridgeport soared to 96 F on June 21st - 20 F warmer than their average high of 76 F! Newark had 5 days with highs from 96 to 99 F (above the long term June averages).

The forecast looks pretty typical for the Tri-State in the coming days…highs in the upper 80’s and lower 90’s….lows 65 to 70 F…sunshine and the typical sultry East Coast summer weather:

Well prepared for a nice warm/hot summer as late spring was so cool.
Definitely a nice cool start to summer helps and we sure had a that. Bring on the heat! Two months of hot weather is not an issue here in the north.

Thanks both of you for noting that Hartford and Danbury stayed below normal I hadn't checked those out. In the tri-state, Newark did end up exactly normal, don't know if that counts as "breaking the streak" for them.
