Although I’m sure it’s all perspective – for me this time of year (mid-September to mid-November), when I really appreciate coastal living, we are protected from those chilly fall nights much more than areas at high elevation and well inland. Up in the Mts of NW CT/NY/NJ it was at least 10 to 13 F cooler this morning. Even at this hour, even with the dry air (warm quicker than moist air) areas up in the NW Connecticut highlands are much cooler than most areas of the Tri-State area: It 47 F up in Torrington, CT and 46 F Wilkes Barre, PA…..but 60 F in Bridgeport and Atlantic City, NJ and 62 F at Brookhaven, Long Island – a 16 F difference!:

In any event....looks like another stretch of really nice weather again for the Tri-State area with temps in the 70' s F day and 50's F night. In fact, it's looking like we might get real dry this month.

lol. So less summer rainfall = warm winters without any coastals? I'm always open to theories so I'm curious if you can show any graphs to support that. I love talking correlations.

Almost 1pm September 6, 2013. 60s across the board north of Latitude 40°N. 10-16° below normal.

Not a cloud in the sky except for some patches. Dewpoints in the 30s and 40s.
Simply a dry cool beautiful day.

Where do you live? In Wallingford we have had more than enough rain this season. Summer came and went and was not a very pleasant one overall.

Good point guys.. I think I was stuck on the fact that I haven't had 1/2" of rain falling in one shot since early August.
Think about that... 4 weeks and not even 1/2" has fallen with 1 storm or front.

Seems like it hasn't rained lately. Here's my precip totals past 3 months

9.39" - Well above
3.39" - Average
3.02" - Average

But looking at the whole pie all the little accumulations over the summer add up.

Lets go to the video tape.......

These maps factor in co-op sites.

Precip departures June, July, August, and meteo summer. Take a look.

Look at SouthWestern CT July and August...Below normal. But as a whole summer, CT had above normal precip

Really? We got two inches on Saturday afternoon! We were at the Goshen Fair in the morning and it started about 1pm or so on our way back. We had to take two detours due to debris and water in the roads.

Yup, and yeah it was pretty interesting most of summer seeing other areas get washed out big time while not a drop fell here.. Sometimes it would drizzle a few drops not even to add up to .01". I saved some radars over the summer that show storms disappearing before getting here. I think there was a very strong Marine layer this year around SWCT that dried things up in the atmosphere
