That's where the highest elevations are in that area. Along the appalacians. Anyone hiking even in MA or VT this weekend might see some typical snow showers and fog. NWS Burlington says 2000'+.

Very interesting weather pattern setting up. Looks like this upcoming Tues night will top last night's low temperatures. Brief warmup wed-fri then back to cold.

I still find it a bit odd that NYC itself and Cape Cod appear to have had warmer lows than anything north of Florida this morning.....

You know the drill. what storm. How do you feel about this Fall so far? lol

GFS says a front with rains. Euro says dry all week. Take a pick. Storm going to Great lakes.
My 12 year old son is quite the "weather geek" like me and we both have several weather apps on our phones. He noted that on AccuWeather's app it is showing for Thursday night sustained winds of 39 mph with gusts to 71! The Channel 7 Eyewitness news app had something similar (35 with gusts to 66), but I know they base it on Accu Weather.

Is that a mistake on their end? Or a Halloween joke? The other apps I have (Weather Channel, WeatherBug, Weather Underground) show nothing like this for the Tri-state area......

I love observations and point outs like this. Sometimes I glance and post and don't see things like this. The 45 on that map is PVC (Provincetown, MA). Here's their OBS for today. I was going to say maybe winds off the warm water but looks like their winds were from the West this morning. So this could just be a water temp factor? Not sure.

Tallahasee Florida was 38 with a North Wind. This is simply because the base of the trough was driving Canadien air right down.

Nice catch I didn't know. Good for your son. That's awesome to hear. Just checked and Looks like Euro saying 45-55mph wind gusts with the Strong Cold Front.

My wind OBS graphed out since midnight of October 24th. Like clockwork increases with sun, dies down without. High Pressure, 50s, and leaves flying everywhere feels just like how Fall should.

Ironically, after what I said last post that Accuweather said, at the same time they are posting this story:

Calmer Halloween for Snowtober, Sandy-Ravaged East

Just noticed that NWS is saying sunny through Halloween now, then clouding up at night with just a 30% chance of showers Friday and Saturday.

Halloween was affected in CT like this:

2011: Heavy Snowstorm
2012: Hurricane Sandy
2013: Rain?

Apparently GFS is faster with the rain than the Euro. Temps wont be cold but the rain might make it frustrating for trick or treaters and parents.

Boston says GFS was the odd ball so not to be believed and it will be dry.

GIVING PREFERENCE TO THE CONSENSUS OF SOLUTIONS TREATING THE 27.0Z
GFS AS THE OUTLIER...A MAJORITY OF IMPACTS CENTERS AROUND FRIDAY
INTO FRIDAY NIGHT /KEEPING HALLOWEEN DRY FOR ALL OF YOU TRICK-OR-
TREATERS/.

Get ready for above normal temps Thurs-Fri! But 1 more cold day night on Tuesday.
GFS left, Euro right.
