The normal high for today November 8th at NWS Bridgeport is 55 F and the normal low is 40 F.

What is really interesting looking at the daily climate data for area NWS stations in the Tri-State area so far this November – is that one can see that the warm and dry pattern we have been in all fall is battling a cooler and wetter pattern that seems to want to start. It seems to swing one way then the other. At this point the warmer/drier pattern seems to be winning as we are now about one quarter through November and we are still slightly warmer and drier than normal. However, in the coming days, temps will again slip to below normal, though only really the highs, nights will be close to normal. It will continue to be dry.

Will the storm (if it develops) be a pattern changer? Will the pontienal storm fail to materialize and November will become even more warm and dry (relative to average)? Will the possible storm usher in cooler and stormier conditions? It will be interesting to see if NOAA/NCD prediction of a warmer than normal November can hang on… or if there is truly a permanent pattern shift by mid -month to cooler and wetter conditions:

There's about 20 more GFS updates from now till Wednesday. 10 Euro. No point in mentioning each one. But latest GFS STILL says no storm.

But, big storm or not, it looks like the first snow of the year for many in the Northeast Tuesday morning. Large and Rare 1045mb High with Polar and Arctic air will drop down with moisture around.

This is the precip type from latest GFS for Monday Night/Tuesday morning. Very Light stuff. Starts and drizzle, ends as light snow. Maybe a dusting to 1" in spots but nothing more.

Winds gusting to 30mph from the WestNorthWest making temps feel like around 40 degrees. It's got that November chill today with some Lake effect Clouds making it down (without moisture). 1028mb High Pressure over the TN Valley right now.

BOTH THE UPPER AND SFC RIDGE AXIS APPROACH FROM THE WEST TONIGHT AND PASS TO THE EAST SAT AFT. GUSTY NW WINDS WILL DIMINISH OVERNIGHT WITH CLEAR SKIES. INTERIOR AREAS WILL DROP INTO THE MID AND UPPER 20S...WITH THE LOWER TO MID 30S AT COAST.

I have a feeling you are on to something.

I think this storm has/had a window when there would be cold air hanging on long enough (between Tue and Friday of next week) that it could have used...but it looks like it will be hard for it all to come together at the right time now. Climo wise it s just way too early it seems, a month from now I think it could have happened.

It looks like after this cool air comes in the middle of next week....it departs by next weekend. Highs in the Tri-State are forecasted to head toward 55 to 60 F about a week from today:

Lot's of moisture streaming off the great lakes today. I had a few brief downpours earlier. Reports of some mixed precipitation up north.

Yes, we've had rain/snow/ice on and off this afternoon.
