I'd welcome that. I'm not up to driving in the snow this winter.

For those that want to stay up. Between 1-6am is when the snow should fall. Maybe even a couple of quick bursts coming down. Nothing more than an inch anywhere.

Coastal areas last to cool off so should be rain and then depending if there's moisture left turn to snow.

Very Interesting from NWS Boston regarding the snow tonight:

Quote:
ARCTIC COLD FRONT WILL ASSOCIATED WITH STRONG CANADIAN SHORTWAVE
WILL APPROACH FROM THE NW...

AS OPPOSED TO LIGHT SNOW IS FALLING INITIALLY TONIGHT...THERE COULD BE ENOUGH DYNAMIC
COOLING/INSTABILITY TO SUPPORT A RAPID CHANGE-OVER TO HEAVY SNOW.
THEREFORE...WILL NEED TO MONITOR FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF BRIEFLY LIVED HEAVY SNOW SQUALLS...POSSIBLY AS FAR S AS CENTRAL CT/RI
AND INTERIOR COASTAL PLAIN OF MA. TIMING OF THESE FEATURES WOULD BE FROM JUST AFTER MIDNIGHT
ACROSS SRN NH AND EXTREME N MA...THROUGH THE MORNING COMMUTE ACROSS MANY OF THE MAJOR METROS.
NWS Upton waiting for the afternoon models:
Quote:

COULD SEE A CHANGEOVER TO SNOW ALL LOCATIONS FOR A TIME LATE TONIGHT.
WILL EVALUATE 12Z GUIDANCE BEFORE PERFORMING ANY UPDATES TO FORECAST THOUGH...BUT
INITIAL THOUGHTS ARE FOR RAIN TO SNOW WITH POSSIBLE MINOR ACCUMS ALONG WITH BLUSTERING CONDITIONS
DURING THE MORNING COMMUTE.

My gut says too cold for snow. Storms could be suppressed to the south which means its cold but little snow. I think below normal snow (maybe less than 2 feet all year) but plenty of arctic air around which flip flops with seasonable temps. Similar to the current setup I think will repeat all winter. No Blizzards but quite a few Clipper systems. 2 storms over 6 inches, the rest small.

Who knows though.. but feel free to quote me on that in the Spring and let me know how I did. And I'll be mature enough to admit if I was wrong.

I was just in my yard and saw half a dozen Seagulls circling and gradually flying inland. Could be a sign something is up.

Funny you say that... I'm seeing some snow maps that suggest part of Long Island with heavier snow than elsewhere around. Obviously "heavier" means 1" instead of a dusting.

News12. Blues = heavier snow. White = Light.
