HI All,

We have a birds nest located about 60 feet high or more in a tree right above the entrance to our garage. We are getting lots of bird poop and other gross stuff now in an area we walk through at least 4 times a day. I think the nest has been there about a month now. The smell is terrible, and permeates the garage.

Can we expect the birds to leave the nest anytime soon? Do we need to get rid of the nest somehow, who do we call (we are between New Haven and Bridgeport)? Is the bird poop and other junk we are walking over and perhaps tracking into our house a safety hazard? Thanks.

YES
NO
NOBODY
NO

Enjoy nature, it wont be there long... Did you say 60 feet high?? Is it a crow? What kind of bird??
I was going to suggest after the eggs hatch and they all fly away (which they do), get up there and move or take down the nest to make sure they dont use that same spot (No Guarantees though) But 60 feet high might be tough to get up to. lol

Our house was vacant a while before we moved in...birds found a nitch in the eaves...it sucks...for those who haven't had birds that close...lucky you! You can try shiny mylar ribbon or the fake owl/snake statues. That'll require you to climb the tree. There are digital noise makers that are supposed to discourage birds from nesting. We ended up blocking the eaves...nothing got rid of them...
