Yeah - all you have to do is hop on Route 8 in Harwinton and you're in Waterbury pretty quickly. Another 30-40 minutes and you're already on 684 in Westchester.

We definitely like what we see online from Burlington, but it definitely adds a good amount of time to our trip home to family. They live on Long Island.

Oooh, well...the only thing I can suggest is heading straight down RT8 (Easy from Burlington.) and grab the ferry in Bridgeport to LI.

30 Minutes SW of Bristol?

Cheshire or Wallingford is about all I can come up with. Just keep in mind you are only saving about a half hour time.

The ferry thing would help out a lot, but my family is in Nassau County, probably quicker just to drive, but good to keep in mind. Thank you!

So many little towns in CT, i had no idea!

Plus, it is difficult to figure out the property tax rates, as each town has it's own mill rate. Unless you find a realtor with a good web-site, you would have to consult each town to figure the taxes.

Coming from NY, that's not a problem, I'm currently paying $12,000+ for my current house on LI, I think everything else will be cheaper!

It's not difficult. Have a look at this list. The State of Connecticut publishes a list of all the mill rates for each town in a convenient Excel sheet. You can find the list here.

Keep in mind they haven't published 2012 mill rates there yet. A lot of towns, having new assessments since 2006/2007, have upped their mill rates. You may have to Google that separately.
