Our daughters are so close in age... and they go to the same school :-) I, too, have recently relocated, so I understand your concerns.
From my own personal experience, Naubuc is a pretty nice school. You walk in and often see the principal himself holding a bunch of kids by the hand, and he still won't be too busy to say hello to anyone walking in. Where I grew up, we avoided the principal like the plague :-) Many of the girls that didn't talk to my daughter last year are now her new best friends. The teachers are also very accomodating and give parents opportunities to help out by coming in class and spending time with their kids and their friends. You can always keep in touch with the teachers through e-mail.
My daughter really enjoys the Halloween parties at her school, but I feel icky about them because too many kids are left abandoned by their parents. Pair that with the sugar-high they get from the candy and, well... they're all over the place, knocking down everything in sight, including (and especially) people or younger kids. Whenever I go, I am always on guard.
The original post for this is older but I thought I would add a bit to it about Naubuc. The Principal is excellent. He is very energetic and will regularly go out at recess and play with the kids. My son use to play football with him. He would also spend time with the girls. The school does encourage parent participation and there is a LOT of it. My wife (and even me a few times) was always in helping out the teachers. The PTO is fabulous and does a wonderful job with fund raising and helping make things nicer there. We also found the quality of teachers to be excellent there. You really can't do much better than Naubuc IMHO. Jay
Unfortunately I just heard at a Christmas Party the other night that the Naubuc principal is leaving for another school closer to his home. The town had an ad in the Courant this weekend for a new Principal so I guess he will be leaving soon. Too bad, he was great. Jay
... I wish I were evil enough to wish our principal moved to Naubuc .... but I am not, so I wish you good luck intead.
By the way, in your old post you mentioned that there are Italian kids at Naubuc. Do you mean really Italian kids or just second generation families? It's not that I die if I do not meet my compatriots, but it would be nice to know if I am not alone in this town... (I have actually met ONE).

Our neighbor is an Italian. He is from Italy (can't remember where) while his wife is second generation (meaning her parents came from Italy). They live with her mother and I believe Italian is the primary language spoken in their home (though the kids are Americanized). He is a partner in a restaurant in Manchester and she in a luncheonette in Hartford. Her parents ran a well-known restaurant in East Hartford for many years. They are a very nice family though we do not see them as often as we did when the kids were younger. Anyway, so you can rest assured that you are not alone. Jay
