*Newlyweds Moving to CT- Please, Help!*
My husband and I are looking to leave NYC- yay!
We love the idea of Connecticut!
I grew up in Toledo, OH and he grew up in rural, PA...
We're very much into the arts and nature too.
We need...
1. Easy commute to NYC on the express line of Metro North (less than 2 hours preferred)
2. SAFE! SAFE!, Reasonably Quiet (perhaps, a suburb?)
3. Affordable Housing (We know, it varies): something around a 2 bedroom house between $400,000 and $500,000
4. possibly near water (that would just be icing on the cake!)
5. "city" enough where folks would want to hire a personal trainer and a court reporter... we wouldn't mind driving into the "city-esque" area for work, as long as the drive was less than a half hour
6. good schools
7. good artistic area, with theatre/s maybe
8. Decent Restaraunts, Stores, Museums, Libraries, within a few miles, etc...
9. lots of grass and trees and a great park or two
10. also, what types of churches may be around the area/s you suggest?

* And... here's a random one: How's the pollen count up there in CT? Allergies, anyone?

Thanks, everyone!

Hi HPixie

1.5-2 hours out of New York on metro north will give you the shoreline towns of Norwalk, Westport, Fairfield, Stratford and at the far end of that time line Milford.

You mention about a '2 bedroom or something'- are you seeking a home or condo/townhouse? Prices west of Stratford become higher.

Stamford, Norwalk, Westport, Fairfield and Milford have a high degree of cultural sophistication, with regards to the arts, (visual and performing) fine restaurants, upscale shopping, health clubs, and good local services like Libraries and good to excellent schools.

These towns for the most part have nice parks and green areas. Also since thy are on LI Sound, most have beaches that may be open to town residents.

Most towns have churches of many denominations from Catholic to Protestant and more.
