I'll say it again:

Branford!

There are a TON of condo complexes in town. The only one I advise you to stay away from is Montoya. The rest are good to great.

Condominiums in CT aren't built to be rented. There's no point in giving you the names of complexes because you won't find what is available for rent that way.

Rental is by private unit owner, not the complex itself. Unit owners will advertise in the usual places, hotpads, craigslist, but most likely through a real estate agent. You don't pay any fee, the owner pays the fee. As for the dog, you would inquire about anything interesting place you found. Most complexes permit a small dog, but it's up to the owner whether they will permit a pet in a rental.

Click on the link, it will get you to Branford condos & apartments for rent.

Avalon in Milford sucks. Overpriced and in a terrible location.

Stick to Spinnaker in Milford if you want that kind of complex: Spinnaker Apartments

Prospect Falls is beautiful.

Also, just opened Metro Point: http://metropointmilford.com/

While it is surrounded by industrial/commercial, the location is exceptional for access to Rt.1 shopping and I-95. Whether or not the location is "terrible" as a residence, the OP would have to determine that for herself.

Right up against the noise pollution of 95 too. I missed the part about dogs and Spinnaker. Honestly if I was renting in the area, I would find a dog-friendly condo or SFH/MFH and wouldn't even bother with apartment complexes.
