Thanks for the replies. It's a big concert so perhaps there will be a lot of people exiting the area at the same time as Stylo mentioned. With that said we'll use caution and best judgement and get in a cab if things seem sketchy.

Walking from the arena to the Holiday Inn should not be a problem when the event gets out. If you were hanging around the arena for a couple of hours and then walked it, I would say take a cab but right after the show should be no problem. There are a couple of restaurants so there will be people around. JAy

Yes and there's a big difference between Bridgeport and Stamford, so the 'or other New England cities' part is definitely not correct.

FYI I made the walk up and down Main Street unscathed. We had a nice quiet dinner at Metric Bar and Grill (Food and service were excellent, decor and cleanliness slightly less so), the Holiday Inn was a VERY nice hotel, and the walk to and from the Arena after dark was fine and the wife and I did not feel at any time like we might be in danger of getting robbed/jumped etc.

It's strange, and I guess coming from cities like Boston and NY it's odd to see, but the place is just dead - at 5pm on a weeknight in what is supposed to be the Downtown area there's just nobody around! we had the restaurant completely to ourselves save for a few folks at the bar, and the streets were virtually empty. It's a shame because everything actually looks nice, especially the museum building. It would be nice to see the area get built up as it's just a ferry ride away from Long Island and I for one would visit more often if something was actually happening there beyond a concert at the arena.

Yeah, Stamford and New Haven are really the only downtowns in the area where it's more consistently bustling after 5.

I have to say that I really hate Family Guy and this is a good example of why. Worthless entertainment at its worst. JMHO, Jay
