I'm looking at apartments in East Hartford and was wondering how the Tolland St./School St./Burnside Ave. area is? Honest opinions please. Thanks

The police dept and fire dept are right there on School St so I don't think it's too bad. Are the apts on Burnside Ave or Tolland Tpke? Burnside Ave can be a little sketchy.

I agree. There is also a fantastic pie place on School Street called Granny's Pie Factory. Totally irrelevant but they make great pies!

East Hartford has some really nice neighborhoods here and there but also has many areas that look dumpy. It's an old blue collar factory town and it shows. On the whole, East Hartford isn't unsafe or terribly crime ridden, it just doesn't look its best. In general, the area you are talking about is fine.

I do not know that I agree with the others. This area isn't bad but not great either. There are better. JMHO, Jay

Ghetto, you could probably tell by the cheaper rent in the area.
