I think I found an accurate way to measure the level of transience (how often people move into) of a town. The Census publishes a statistic called "Year householder moved into unit: Percent moved in 2005 or later," in which 2005 or later is the latest layer of this measure. How accurate do you think the data is? I'd say it's quite accurate and we can learn a lot from it! I sorted it from the town/city with greatest transience to the least. Sorry for the awkward formatting (I extracted the data into Excel from the Census website). CT as a whole is rated at 29.5% for this statistic, making it a pretty darn provincial state, below the national average of 34.8%. This means that it's not a state that people move to as often as most other states. But this data shows that New Haven is the most moved-into city/town in the whole state and Bethany is the least moved-into.

Thanks for posting; very interesting! It was my impression, though, that this comparison is for movement from town to town, not from state to state? I've seen numbers (also from the census) that 55.1% of Connecticut residents were born in the state in 2010, slightly less than the national average of 58.8% of people living as residents of their state of birth.
