EcoSmart Energy Audit

Anybody have this done?

Seems like a no-brainer for $75 so I'm wondering what the catch is. Clearly they'll try to sell me on a bunch of services, and maybe they purposefully find stuff wrong, but any harm in doing it?

Thanks!

I did it and it was great. Defnitely worth the money. They came in and did a bunch of things to make the house more energy efficent which was well worth it. The best thing they did was fix our door to the garage which had a loose hing that kept getting looser. Now it is tight and works great. That alone was worth the money. Jay

This has piqued my interest. Jay - can you remember anything else they did to your house?

A lot of our home was already pretty energy efficient. They weather stripped all the doors that were not already done including the door to the basement. They switched light bulbs to the energy efficient types. I think they checked for leaking faucets and toilets. I can't remember what else but I am sure there was more. Jay

We also did this and it was well worth it. There wasn't much of a hard sell on anything, either, but gave us some options to think about.

Just had it done today and would definitely recommend it. It took several hours and they were very thorough. They did all their testing including pressure testing with a temperature gun and then went around caulking around pipes, adding weatherstripping to doors, changing a LOT of light bulbs... Well worth the $75 but be prepared to take a half day off work...

Also, no hard sell whatsoever. They left me with an estimate for attic insulation (which I knew I needed anyway), and flat-out encouraged me to get other estimates as well.
