Knock-on-wood I never need to use this information, but if I had to get to a hospital in an emergency, what hospital would I be going to? I'm in the Tashua area of Trumbull and I think that Bridgeport Hospital (9.5 miles but 22 minutes) is the closest to me.

Is there anything else nearby? Is Bridgeport Hospital a good hospital?

Separately, what's good for walk-in urgent care near me, particularly for kids?

Thanks!

St. Vincent's hospital is a little closer to you, it's also in Bridgeport. A lot of people prefer it over Bridgeport hospital. I think it depends mostly on what kind of treatment you need, both are good hospitals. St. V's does have walk-in/urgent care locations if you do a google search, I know there is one in Monroe on Rt. 111.

Along route 25 (Main St.) in Monroe not too far from Tashua there is Immediate Medical Care clinic that's open 7 days a week, too.

You're welcome, just keep in mind that the St. V walk-in clinics are super expensive.

St. Vincent's overtook Bridgeport Hospital a few years ago for highest numbers of patients seen/admitted. So, it would appear that St. V's is the preferred hospital now.

Absolutely.

Also, their clinic that is located on upper Main Street at the Bpt./Trumbull line is the most poorly run and disorganized walk-in that i've ever seen in my life. The Shelton location was far superior, but i can't recommend St. V's clinics with their prices.

Depends on what insurance carrier you have, the type of coverage you have, and the procedures you are having done. To my knowledge and as of this writing, St. Vincent's of Bridgeport participates in all of the major health insurance carriers' networks. I would get in touch with St. Vincent's billing specialists and verify details with them, though.

They do take insurance, same as the hospital. What you'll pay OOP will depend on your insurance/deductible/co-pay/etc. I think they generally consider a visit to the clinic as an emergency room-type visit, which has a higher price tag most of the time.

Unfortunately, I had a lot of exposure to quite a few hospitals due to family members being hospitalized in different areas of CT…

Yale New Haven Hospital is the best…but is too far from Trumbull put keep in your back pocket for real emergencies or illnesses…

Hartford or Griffin Hospital if you’re ever in those areas and need medical attention…Don’t go to Mid-State in Meriden….

St. Vincent is right up there with Yale….My mother was hospitalized there for over a week…and she received the best treatment…the nurses were so attentive …always checking on her…

My aunt and cousin were hospitalized there as well…Received the same type of treatment.

Don’t have any feedback regarding the walk in clinics…

Hope this helps….
