Agreed. My friends and I don't really entertain CT beaches too much. If we want a legit beach day, we take day-trips to Misquamicut in Rhode Island.

My best friend is from East Lyme and he's shown me the beachfront around that area - it's pretty nice. But again, nowhere near as open as the ones in Rhode Island.

Haha, this beach discussion is actually pretty interesting for me, but not being from the area, its a little hard to follow. My husband accepted his new position today so we will definitely be moving to CT. This is all very helpful.

While we're at it.. can somebody help describe what CT's weather is like? I looked at averages but that doesn't tell you much. Seeing as 80 in Chicago feels different than 80 in Sydney and both are different than 80 AZ, etc. Anyways, how would you compare it to Chicago (if anyone knows what thats like?)

Winters are MUCH milder, especially on the coast. Less snow, less wind. Summers are similar. It may be a bit more humid in general though.

Depends on what you expect for that money. If you're looking for a really nice house in that area for $3000/month, you might be sorely disappointed.

Britin- you may be looking for something different than us. We just want a small house with a yard. We'd rather spend our money on other things (just personal preference).
