LOL. Kid, you need to get down here for some nice meals! Its not New Haven, but there are some fantastic restaurants from Ridgefield down to Greenwich. Lower FFC dining certainly holds its own with, if not surpasses, the Hartford area.

I don't understand the appeal of SoNo. Its small and sketchy and the train tracks run right through it. New Haven and Stamford are much better options if you want urban/downtown living in Southern CT.

I think lower FFC has more 25+ Zagat restaurants than any other county in CT.

I lived in Fairfield County for 26 years. I know what it has to offer. I don't agree that lower FFC holds its own outside of SoNO - especially for such a wealthy area. It's about on par with the Hartford area IMO. It's definitely not even close to what New Haven has to offer.

Re: Train tracks in SoNo, IMO - that's part of the appeal.

Lower FFC dining is definitely better than most parts of the country. I do greatly prefer New Haven. Part of the reason its dining scene is so good is simple: college students. As a restaurateur friend once said, it's like getting new enthusiastic clientele every 4 years.

South Norwalk's dining scene is odd. A lot of turnover. The places that have managed to stay alive are pretty good (Strada 18, Match, Barcelona), but there are some really overpriced, underwhelming restaurants that do the rotation there.

LeFarm, Schoolhouse, Whelk and Napa & Co. are some of the most respected restaurants in the state. There's a lot of other fine dining in towns like New Canaan, Greenwich, Darien - although nothing has outright impressed me like those places. The super fancy WASPy dining scene never appealed to me.

I'd say the 3 counties are close in quantity of great restaurants. New Haven wins as a single entity, but Norwalk/Stamford makes for a very decent scene.

Lower FFC: Let's strip out Fairfield, Bridgeport and Ridgefield. Still no contest. My claim is spot on.

You are wrong in this case.
