If someone knows the correct roads to take, there are alternate, mostly non-interstate routes from New Britain to Bloomfield that would take 28 minutes during normal traffic, and 38 minutes during rush hour, to travel approximately 13 miles.
Check Google map routes from New Britain to Bloomfield with an origin from 1615 Stanley St. which is the Administration Building at CCSU.
It may take some time but folks can learn how to navigate their way around clogged interstate highways.

CCSU is at the northern end of New Britain. It is not necessarily where the OP would live. Navigating through local streets would mean driving through West Hartford Center which is slow moving. I would not recommend it. Jay

This route to Bloomfield bypasses West Hartford center and is just one of several.
I'm not advising anyone where to live.

You are still sending them down some very busy roads during rush hour. All those turns take time. Just not worth it. Jay
